The problem: migrating the number switches off the phone app
The usual route to the WhatsApp Cloud API requires migrating the number to Meta. Once migrated, that number stops working in the phone app. Overnight, the sales team loses the tool it actually works with and has to answer customers from an unfamiliar screen.
That is why so many WhatsApp integrations for Odoo get installed, tested for a few days and then abandoned: they do not fail technically, they fail because nobody wants to give up the app on their phone.
Coexistence mode removes that trade-off. The number stays alive in the phone app, the team keeps replying where it always has, and Odoo records and sends through that same number.
Two modules, depending on your Odoo edition
WhatsApp Coexistence
For Odoo Enterprise, which already ships the WhatsApp module. It adds Coexistence mode on top of that base, with no number migration.
